Society “Golden Bridge”, which was reregistered on 9^th July as “Youth Workers’ Association “Golden Bridge””, has developed subproject RE:START in close cooperation with the Baltic Guild of Doll and Toy Artists in order to improve quality of life of those children and youth in Kandava district who face the risk of social exclusion and poverty. The project is also meant for seniors who would like to be more involved in the community life of the district.

Inhabitants of rural areas in comparison to urban dwellers have little access to information and non-formal education. This is due to the lack of resources necessary to organize non-formal education and leisure time activities. Therefore current supply in the field doesn’t really match the needs of the target groups.

In order to ensure advocacy of the target groups’ interests and opportunities for their personal development, the main aims of the subproject were defined as:

1. promotion of civil participation, purposeful use of leisure time and lifelong learning of the groups facing social exclusion and poverty;

2. fostering accessibility of public activities;

3. providing an opportunity for the inhabitants to develop new skills, thus contributing to the solution of the unemployment problem;

4. fostering volunteering and participation of inhabitants in local policy planning.

5. motivation of low-activity social groups to further develop their skils and meaningful use of their free time.

Employees for RE:START were selected according to their professional background. Fees were compared and a research was conducted by phone.

RE:START was restricted in time and take place during 6 months in 2012. The subproject aims to achieve that after it’s over - members of the target groups in Vāne parish can better involve into the life of community in a new quality.
