Summary of the project:

The goal of the project “New Family as a New Enterprise: Strategy of Success” is to work out and provide pilot testing of a business approach to the creation and development of a new family with children. This approach will be based upon training and counselling programme which later will be multiplicated with the assistance of moderators who will be chosen of the most active and interested young parents.

The project target group are young parents up to 25 years old. The project will result in raising awareness of young parents in managing their family life, establishing particular goals, developing realistic plans, mobilising available resources and controlling the implementation of planned activities. Business approach to family life is based upon supposition that every person is able to become an entrepreneur regarding his or her private life and a family.

The project will be implemented in Riga, information about it and results of the training and counselling programme will be disseminated in other Latvian cities and towns. Later on the the programme implementation is planned in all Latvian regions.

The main project activities include: detailed development and pilot implementation of the training and counselling programme; creation of the team of trainers and moderators and its training for further running the programme; seminar for young parents about Swiss experience in entrepreneurial approach in family life; project publicity activities.

Project results include the following: training and counselling programme (including training and methodology materials for trainers and participants) is developed; 8 trainers-counsellors are trained; at least 35 representatives of the target group took part in the programme pilot testing; project publicity activities are implemented in all regions of Latvia; the plan for further programme implementation is developed.
